2010 DC LB Planning Visits

Scout.com talked with 2010 prospect Jeremiah Attaochu from Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, D.C. The three-star player has sixteen offers and although he has narrowed it down to a list of eight to choose from for his visits that list may expand because he is still hearing from other schools as well.

With sixteen offers thus far, Jeremiah Attaochu may be the most sought after recruit in the Washington D.C. area. He is a great defensive player with a huge upside. He stands 6'3" and weighs 220 pounds with 4.69 forty speed and benches close to 300 pounds. He is very mature and is also a good student. He has all the physical tools and qualities college coaches are looking for in a recruit. It is no wonder Attaochu is in such high demand and it may be getting even higher.

"I have sixteen offers which I am very appreciative. I still hear from other schools as well. There are eight schools in particular that I like right now. Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Kansas State, Syracuse, Minnesota, Louisville and Duke are on top right now. I hear from several other schools too that haven't offered me yet and of those Michigan, Michigan State and North Carolina would be schools that I would be very interested in if they offered me."

As far as official visits Attaochu has an idea about which schools he will visit right now. "I am visiting Maryland on December 11th. I will also visit Illinois, Syracuse, Virginia and Kansas State. That could change depending on how the recruiting goes this fall but I would say those schools for the five official visits right now. I won't make an announcement until after the visits. I will take the five visits and then announce after I have seen the final few schools up close."

Attaochu has been to Maryland and Virginia already for unofficial visits. "I like Maryland. I went to a game and I really like the fan atmosphere there. They get good support and it is a good place. My parents like how close it is. That doesn't matter to me I just want to find the right place so distance isn't a factor for me as much as for my parents. Virginia has great coaches and they treat their players well. They said they have a plan for me which I like. It is a nice campus too."

Attaochu can play linebacker or defensive end on the next level but he does have a preference. "I prefer defensive end. I am playing that now for my high school and I think I can make a bigger impact there. I am most comfortable there but whatever the coaches want me to do I will do. Most of the schools see me as a defensive end as well."

A big factor in Attaochu's final decision is the academics and the people at the school. "The school has to be strong in my major. I am going to study mass communication or journalism. Another big factor will be the people on and around the team and of course the coaches. The people around me are important."

Attaochu reports a 3.0 GPA and a 910 on the SAT (math, critical reading).
