Devils Name Four Captains For VT

Durham, n.c. – Head coach David Cutcliffe announced the four game captains for the Blue Devils' contest against Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Seniors Thaddeus Lewis and Ayanga Okpokowuruk will be repeat captains while redshirt juniors Brett Huffman and Chris Rwabukamba will represent the team for the first time in 2009.

Lewis will be a captain for the fourth time in five games this year. He also served as a captain against Richmond, Army and N.C. Central. Lewis has completed 72-of-123 pass attempts this season for 783 yards and five touchdowns. He helped lead Duke to a 49-14 win over N.C. Central last weekend with two touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown.

Okpokowuruk will be a captain for the second time. He also served as a captain for the Kansas game. Okpokowuruk has 18 tackles, a team-high 2.5 tackles for loss, three quarterback pressures and one caused fumble on the season. He had his best game of the year at Army with 10 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a caused fumble.

Huffman has four receptions for 57 yards and two touchdowns on the season. His two touchdowns are tied for second most by a tight end in the ACC and tied for sixth most nationally. Rwabukamba has 16 tackles, two pass breakups and one caused fumble in 2009.
