Former Duke Commit Appreciates New Approach

When the news came down that Duke's top rated commitment in the class of 2010 was re-opening his recruitment, many assumed that Aramide Olaniyan was done considering the Blue Devil program. However, the Virginia linebacker says that's not the case at all.

"Duke is still very much on my list and I'm still very interested in them," said Aramide Olaniyan. "I still talk to the coaching staff regularly and I still follow what they are doing down there."

Everything they are doing included catching the highlights of the big victory over NC State on Saturday. It was exactly the kind of on field progress the four star prospect has been itching to see from the Durham based program.

"It shows that they are doing the right things and that the coaching staff has everything going in the right direction. I love the coaches and I still talk to them often. I was very happy for them on Saturday and I think they can continue to do great things there."

Still, there's a twinge of separation when Olaniyan now speaks of his relationship with the Blue Devil program. "We" has become "they" when describing his association with the Duke program. So what has been the approach for the Duke coaching staff as they move forward hoping to re-establish a relationship and recruiting process?

"They were never upset about [the de-commitment]. They are just working at it as if they were coming in with a fresh start. I appreciate the way they've approached it."

Olaniyan will visit Durham officially on December 5th.
