Duke Among Those Interested in '11 WR

Chesapeake, Va., native Quinta Funderburk debuted with a four-star ranking on the Scout.com Top 100 to watch for the Class of 2011 and while he has yet to nail down his first offer, the No. 2 program in the country was just at one of his games to scout him.

Quinta Funderburk, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver from Oscar F. Smith High School is waiting for his first offer and has plenty of programs showing him interest right now. Funderburk is trying to focus on his junior season and may not take any visits during the fall months.

"I've just been getting letters from a lot of different schools," Funderburk said. "Coach Sal (Sunseri) from Alabama came to one of my games recently and I got to meet with him for a little while and he also told my coach he liked what he saw from me. I think Alabama is a good school and they've got a great receiver in Julio Jones already."

"I get letters from Miami, Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke and a whole bunch of other schools," Funderburk explained. "North Carolina and Clemson have been sending a whole lot lately too. I haven't gotten any offers yet and haven't gone to any games yet, but I've been invited by a few schools to go to games."

"I definitely like North Carolina and have for a long time," Funderburk stated. "I've just always liked watching the games on TV and think they have a really good passing game. Coach (Butch) Davis does a good job and they've been bringing in some big-time recruits."

Funderburk is leading the district in receiving yardage so far for the season and Oscar Smith is undefeated in 2009 after winning a state championship in 2008.
