Irving Will Announce at 5:30 on ESPNU

The end of the Kyrie Irving recruitment will happen on Thursday afternoon in front of a national television audience. The 6'2 point guard will choose between a handful of schools including Duke. Tune in at 5:30 on ESPNU.

Irving, rated as the nation's No.5 overall prospect and the No.2 point guard confirmed via text that he will make his choice in less than 36 hours.

"Yea (I'm ready), my announcement is on Thursday on ESPNU," Irving texted Dave Telep this morning. He also reiterated that despite any reports, he has not made his choice.

Irving will choose between Duke, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and Seton Hall. The first three programs all received official visits over the course of the last month. The Blue Devils are believed to be a strong possibility based on the rave reviews Irving provided throughout the process.

"Coach K told me a lot that he wanted me to be their point guard," Irving previously told TDD. "I can really see myself fitting in and excelling there."

Throughout the recruiting process Irving has been easily one of the more accessible players in the country - maintaining a very popular site on Twitter. Since word of his announcement leaked, however, several fans have bombarded his page with a variety of sentiments. It all adds up to a player who is looking forward to the relief of a decision.

"I'm definitely ready to get this over with. I guess it's time to lose a lot of [Twitter] followers, but that's OK. I know where I'm going."

Irving will announce at 5:30 as part of ESPNU's recruiting show.
