In late April the 6-foot-6 wing gave Maryland a verbal commitment, now the Rockville (Md.) Montrose Christian has opted to take a look at a few other schools.
"What he's going to do is reopen his recruitment to a limited number of schools, probably five," Montrose head coach Stu Vetter said. "He wanted to make sure that he was making the right decision."
According to Vetter, Maryland is still firmly in the mix, but he'll also be specifically looking at Kansas, Duke and Kentucky.
"He wants to stay on the east coast," Vetter told Scout.com. "He likes the east coast. The rumors about him going back to the west coast are not true."
Ross will wait until after the season to take official visits, as Vetter has a team rule that negates his players from taking visits during the high school season.
Ross, a four-star prospect, is in the midst of a monster senior season. He took the summer off from playing summer basketball, and Vetter thinks it helped him upgrade his play.
"He worked really hard on his game during the summer," Vetter said. "He didn't play AAU, which was a plus because he got to spend some time working on his game."
Ross is a current member of Scout.com's 2010 top 100.
