DC Corner Gets Blue Devil Offer

Sherrard Harrington has been through plenty with the health problems in his immediate family over the past few years and frankly, receiving his first scholarship offer on Thursday was probably one of the best things that have happened to him in a few years.

Sherrard Harrington, a 6-foot, 180-pound cornerback from Woodson High School in Washington, D.C., snagged his first scholarship offer on Thursday from Duke.

"I just got an offer from Duke today," Harrington said. "I cried when I got it man…I've been through so much through my high school years with my mom being sick and it put a smile on her face, so I just kind of broke down. I'm so proud to have an opportunity to go to such a fine school for free."

"The big things I know about Duke is that Coach Roper is a great recruiter and that they are one of the best academically you can find and I need that for my future because football is just the next couple years of your life," Harrington explained. "I think business is something I'd like to study because I've always liked dealing with people and dreamed of maybe owning and running my own business."

As a sophomore, Harrington caught 19 passes for 300 yards.

He runs the short shuttle in 3.98 seconds, has a 36-inch vertical leap and carries a 3.5 core GPA.
