Devils To Host Volunteer Commit

Eric MacLain, tight end from Fayetteville-Jack Britt, N.C., has been committed to Tennessee since former head coach Phil Fulmer. MacLain has yet to speak to the new Volunteer coaching staff, but eager to visit later this month. New opportunities have come along with another visit on the horizon as well.

"West Virginia offered me today," said Eric MacLain. "I think Virginia Tech is going to offer me tomorrow. It's starting to go into double digits. I know I also have offers from Carolina, N.C. State, Clemson, Duke and Tennessee.

"I think it's with all the coaching changes these schools want me to know they are interested. We are going to roll with Tennessee right now, but we may change directions if things don't feel right."

MacLain has remained solid through all the coaching changes, but the silence has left an uneasy feeling.

"Everything really is depending on how the Tennessee visit goes," he said. "I have not talked to any them. I want to get the feeling they want me. That's why we are looking forward to the Junior Day. If I don't get that then, we will look around. We are going up there on the 27th."

MacLain will take a closer look at an ACC program before going to Knoxville.

"I think we plan on going to Duke this weekend," he said. "Coach Cutcliffe is an awesome man. I was excited when he came from Tennessee. When he stayed with his people at Duke that spoke a lot. I like him personally."
