TE Target De-Commits From UT

Eric MacLain, tight end from Fayetteville-Jack Britt, N.C., originally committed to former head coach Phillip Fulmer. He remained loyal through three coaching changes, but coach Derek Dooley has lost a verbal pledge.

"I have decided to de-commit," said Eric MacLain. "I don't understand why they have not tried to contact me. It's been really upsetting.

"We were looking on Scout.com, and we were looking on the UT site. Coach Dooley had offered scholarships and were talking to players at their high school. He does that, but doesn't contact players who are committed.

"It was really confusing to me. I want them to recruit me. The distrust that is there would be really hard to go that way now. It's a possibility, but I would have to have a good talk with them before I decided to visit."

MacLain has received scholarship offers from Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Maryland. He will attend Junior Day at Duke this weekend.
