Michael Gbinije, a 6-foot-6 small forward out of Richmond (Va.) Benedictine, committed to the Duke Blue Devils after considering Syracuse and Virginia.
"I've been thinking about it for a long time and I was just ready," Michael Gbinije told Scout.com. "I did it."
Gbinije visited Duke's campus for the game against North Carolina and less than a week later, he's a done deal for the Devils. "I just called him and we talked briefly and I told him I wanted to commit to Duke. He was happy, real happy and excited.
"I saw how they played, got used to it and liked the passion they play with and how competitive they are."
"I thought he had a good year for us," Benedictine coach Sean McAloon said. "Overall, in terms of improving his overall understanding of the game he's taken leaps forward. We've got a bunch of people on the team that can score and he's learned to take people in the post and help other guys."
Gbinije averaged 17.8 points and six rebounds a game. He's ranked the No. 14 prospect in the Class of 2010.
