Jersey OLB Has Visited; Looking For More

One of the top overall prospects on the Blue Devil recruiting board is Erial (NJ) product, Quinton Alston. The 6-foot-1, 215 pounder recently visited Duke and has picked up over 10 offers so far. So where does he stand in the recruiting process?

"Right now I'm open to everyone," said Quinton Alston. "I have been doing research and learning about all the programs who have been recruiting me. My goal is to make sure I pick a place that is right for me."

One of the schools that has been hard at work for the Jersey product is Duke and head coach David Cutcliffe. So much so that Alston ventured to Durham for an unofficial visit.

"It was a great trip for me. I liked what they are doing with their facilities and the school was beautiful. The campus is smaller, but there are so many schools in that area so you can always find something going on. It's a nice balance."

A nice balance is a pretty fair description of Alton's game as well. Rated as the nation's No. 22 outside linebacker, he's got ideal size and good speed. As a junior, Alston registered 80 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, four sacks and defended two passes. He was named first-team All-Conference and first-team All-Group III.

It's resulted in offers from Duke, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Iowa, Minnesota, Louisville, Iowa, Cincinnati, Purdue, and others. And, despite his ever expanding list, Alston is always looking to improve and earn more looks from schools all over the country. And, of interest to Blue Devil fans of the hardwood, he's got a pretty familiar motto.

"Hungry and humble, that's how I live my life and that's how I think."
