Several Offers, No Leader For Cottom

Brandon Cottom is primarily being recruited as a running back, but he understands that at some point he may end up moving to linebacker during his collegiate career. Right now he's holding onto seven offers and is also drawing interest from Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State and Purdue and will visit two of those schools soon.

Brandon Cottom, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound athlete from Council Rock North High School in Newtown, Pa., says he currently has no leaders for his services and is planning to visit two schools soon that he hopes to get offers from.

"I have offers from Syracuse, Duke, Rutgers, Villanova, Minnesota, Cincinnati and Temple right now," Cottom stated. "Rutgers, Penn State and Michigan are recruiting me as a linebacker, but everyone else is recruiting me to play running back right now. I'm going in open-minded because I know there's a chance of being eventually moved to linebacker, but I'd like to have the chance to play running back if I'm told I will as that's what I want to play."

"I'm happy with what I have and there are a few more I'm hoping are going to offer, so I'm looking out for those schools," Cottom added. "I'm looking for Purdue and Notre Dame right now. I'm heading out to both of those schools in early June for visits. I've been talking with both schools pretty regularly and Notre Dame was in last week."

"Purdue has the major I like in aviation which most schools don't have, so that's a big plus and Notre Dame just has so much tradition in their program, so both of them just really interest me a lot. I'm going back out to Duke for camp to meet up with the coaches too, but other than that I don't have anything scheduled."

We asked Cottom if he has any current leaders.

"Actually, I do not have any leaders right now," Cottom said. "I know for a fact I'll make my decision before the season starts, but I don't know when."
