Rated as the nation's No. 12 defensive tackle and a four star recruit by Scout.com, Peat's scouting report describes him as:
"A very active and disruptive DT prospect who shows great burst off the ball and uses his hands very well. He wins the hand battle more times then not, and then will use arms and strength to lock out OLs allowing him to read and react and make pursuit to the ball. Peat is very strong and stout in the run game."
It all translates into offers from more than 15 schools including Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Duke, Nebraska, Oregon State, Stanford, Wake Forest, and Washington. With so many schools involved, the Blue Devils have made his recruitment a priority.
"I've talked to Coach Lubick, and I like him a lot. He seems to be very honest and straight-forward and I really respect that. I have also talked to Coach Cut a few times, and he's very passionate about the game and you can tell he's excited about where his program is going. Duke has told me they are looking for players like myself to turn the program around."
"[Duke's] main pitch is they are a very strong academic school, and that's a big plus for me. They have also indicated that I would have a chance to play early on in my career."
Peat says another pair of schools high on his list are Stanford and Arizona State. He also adds that his top factors when choosing a school will be early playing time, the fit with coaches and fellow players, and academics.
