Since that visit the 6-foot-2, 195 pound outside linebacker prospect with a 4.6 recorded forty has maintained constant contact with Middleton and linebacker coach Jim Collins. In addition to getting to know one another, Collins' message to Uzoma was clear.
"He pulled me out of the crowd during the Spring Game and told me that camp will be vital for me to earn an offer. We keep in touch a lot and he's one of the coaches I call after each combine to update. He's taken the time to study my tape and has broken down what I need to do to have an edge on this level and the next."
In addition to being high on the coaching staff, Uzoma says he likes the atmosphere and overall feel of the Durham campus.
"I've visited twice and have seen their facilities and campus. I love the atmosphere there. The coaches are great and the players all have really positive attitudes towards each other and the staff. The campus seemed to be quiet, but I really prefer it that way. My overall impression is that the staff is great and they seem to be the type of staff I am looking for."
In addition to the Blue Devils, a top five would for the talented Knightdale prospect would include East Carolina, Brown, Holy Cross, and Wofford. All have offered. In order to separate from the pack a school will have to satisfy the following three criteria:
"The three biggest factors will be the size of the school, the level of competition, and the availability of scholarships."
