Ohio Lineman Calls It For Duke

The summer camp scene in Durham is known for two things. First is a chance for prospects to show out and earn scholarship offers. The second is the logical continuation of that process in the form of commits. On Monday afternoon the Blue Devils earned one from Ohio OL, Matt Skura.

"I committed to Duke today," said Columbus (Ohio) Kilbourne High offensive guard Matt Skura. "I talked to Coach Luke today who said they were offering and I just made the decision to be a Blue Devil."

At a position of need, the Blue Devils are no doubt thrilled to add the 6-foot-4, 275 pound Ohio prospect. At the Duke camp he spent time working with the Duke coaches and ran a pair of forties in the 5.2 range. When he gets to Durham he projects to play in the interior of the offensive line, perhaps as a center.

He had been evaluated for a while, but the Blue Devil coaching staff encouraged him to attend camp in order to showcase his skill a bit more. That's exactly what he did and was a direct result in earning the scholarship he'd been waiting for.

"I felt that I did really well in the camp. I got a chance to really compete against the other guys and the coaching staff made me feel really at home. That was probably the main factor…the coaching staff makes you believe they are doing something special there and they make you want to be part of it all."

Skura chose Duke offer an offer from Air Force. He is considered two star prospect by Scout.com pending his film being reviewed.
