But as of yet the 6'2, 195 pound prospect does not have a scholarship offer. Though one could be coming, and he's certainly receptive to Duke's message.
"They said they are still evaluating me at this point in time. I spoke to Coach Collins and he said I really had a good day. He told me they thought that with a little work on my technique I could cover everyone from tight ends to running backs."
"I feel like I am high on their board. I have several hand-written letters from the coaching staff and they know I have a pretty high level of interest in Duke. I've spoken to Coach Middleton and Coach Collins a number of times on the phone. I am really hoping that after they finish their evaluation process I will be getting an offer."
That process will likely include senior game film as well as any film obtained over the summer. But it likely started on the track where Uzoma's time began turning heads.
"That was the only real test they had set up, and the coaches told me it was a "blazing" performance. I really do believe I played at my best during the camp. I do know that I started slow and didn't peak as quickly as I should have, but overall I did well."
Should the evaluation process result in an offer, it's not unthinkable that a commitment could be forth coming. Uzoma admits the Blue Devils are very high on his list. In fact they may be alone at the top.
"They are at the top of my recruiting list, and are my first choice. Overall the campus is great and the turf field is really nice. The staff really makes you feel at home there. It's definitely the kind of hospitality I'm looking for."
