Boyd, rated a three star prospect and the nation's No. 44 cornerback according to Scout.com, chose Duke over a number of high major offers including Stanford, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Memphis, Indiana, and Southern Miss. However it was the Duke coaching staff that ultimately made the difference.
"I knew a little about Duke at the start [of the recruiting process], but once I started learning more and getting to know the coaches I knew that Duke was the right place. I feel like I can trust them and they have my best interests first."
Boyd, a cornerback, also plays a little wide receiver for his high school and he returns kicks and punts, too. Last season he had 60 tackles, three interceptions with one returned for a TD, and he also returned three punts back to the house.
At Duke he'll immediately factor into the battle to get on the field on the defensive side of the ball.
