Lone Star WR Has A Blue Devil Offer

As the class of 2010 continues to fill up the spots become more and more limited. Still it would appear as though the Blue Devils have another spot on the offensive side of ball for the right player. One player who has a standing offer is Texas wideout Malcolm Hill.

"I camped with Duke, Oklahoma State, and Baylor this summer," said Frisco (Tex.) Liberty standout Malcolm Hill. "Each of the camps went well and gave me a chance to really see the different types of programs and to build relationships with the coaches."

At 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds with 4.3 speed in the forty, Hill has received offers from Duke, Wyoming, New Mexico State, Western Kentucky, and Boise State. He's also receiving interest from Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Minnesota, Northwestern, Virginia, Purdue, and others. Still, there are only a few schools sticking out at this point.

"Right now the top schools are Duke, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, and Utah. Those schools are really genuine with their approaches. When they call you can tell they actually want to know how you are doing and how things are going. It's not just them trying to sell you."

Of course as with any recruiting process it is imperative for the coaching staff to make their pitch. And while several continue that work, Hill admits the Duke staff has done well enough to warrant a visit earlier this summer.

"I talked to my parents and it made a lot of sense to go out there and see what Duke was all about. To meet the players and the coaches and see how things go on there."

That process included speaking to current players about the changes within the program since head coach David Cutcliffe took over.

"I asked the guys what it like before this coaching staff and how they feel about the school being committed to football. And why they committed to Duke. Things like that."

"They said things are a lot different now. There is a commitment to winning now. Everyone now understands what it means to prepare and want to win."

Which is also the message the coaches have preached to Hill and one he's listening to.

"I talk to Coach Roper a lot. He's told me all about Duke and how nice it is there. How North Carolina really is a college state. He's also talked to me about how they are preparing to be successful every day."

While Hall admits the Blue Devils are "pretty much" on the top of his list, he says it'll be a little while before he makes a commitment.

"Right now I'm thinking about doing it in the middle of the year. I want to get my season going and then really sit down after some official visits and make a decision. I figure it'll be after four or five games."
