Shawn James Named to NABC All-District Team

Duquesne University junior forward/center Shawn James (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Notre Dame (Mass.) Prep) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District Three Second Team.

District three is comprised of 28 schools in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey Delaware and Maryland.

Shawn James, who is the nation's fifth-leading shot-blocker at 4.1 blocks per game, leads the Dukes in scoring (13.2 ppg.) and rebounding (7.1 rpg.) and is shooting an Atlantic 10 best .551 from the field.

Joining James on the district three second team are Atlantic 10 foes Dionte Christmas (Temple) and Ahmad Nivins (Saint Joseph's) as well as cross-town opponents DeJuan Blair (Pittsburgh) and Tony Lee (Robert. Morris).

The district three first team is comprised of Jason Thompson (Rider), Pat Calathes (Saint Joseph's), Sam Young (Pittsburgh), Scottie Reynolds (Villanova) and Brian Laing (Seton Hall).

Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the 150 chosen student-athletes from 15 districts, are now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams to be announced on Saturday, April 5 at the 2008 NABC Convention in San Antonio.

Duquesne (16-11, 6-8), which is in the hunt for one of 12 spots in the Atlantic 10 Championship, plays at Temple Wednesday night before closing out the regular season at home against Saint Louis.
