Dukes, a win away from Jersey -- For Sure

Duquesne's men's basketball team closes out the regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon when they host Saint Louis. A win will do a lot of things, such as stop a losing streak and set their place in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship.

Update: The win to seal a berth in the A-10s came Thursday night from Charlotte, which beat GW, 77-61.

Following Wednesday night's game, Duquesne dropped from a tie for 9th to 11th place in the Atlantic 10 standings -- a half-game in front of George Washington and up a full game over Fordham.

Last season, Duquesne finished the regular season with a 10-18 overall record, 6-10 in the A-10, and finished 10th in the league. DU lost its opening round game to Saint Louis, 78-77.

A win over the 2008 Billiken team would raise the Dukes' league mark to 7-9. Duquesne could finish as high as 8th, likely in a tie.

Wednesday's results:

at Massachusetts 100 La Salle 63
at Richmond 58 Fordham 53
Dayton 78 at St. Bonaventure 73
at Temple 90 Duquesne 85
The Bonnies are stuck in last place and will be one of the two teams not getting a trip to Atlantic City.
