Field Set For A-10 Men's Basketball Champs

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - For the second consecutive year, Xavier is the top seed for the Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship, to be held Mar. 12-15 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. (NOTE --- #10 Duquesne faces #7 La Salle Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.)

The Musketeers (26-5) posted a record of 14-2 in one of the most unpredictable and closely contested seasons in league history. Ranked eighth in the Associated Press top 25, Xavier seeks its fifth title in program history and second in three years. Under the direction of fourth-year head coach Sean Miller, XU is an astounding 20-0 this season when four players score in double figures.

Riding a four-game winning streak, Temple (18-12/11-5) is seeded second and earned a first round bye, as did No. 3 Massachusetts (21-9/10-6) and fourth-seeded Richmond (16-13/9-7). UMass enters the 2008 Championship having won its last six contests, while the Spiders were picked to finish 12th in voting conducted by the league's head coaches and selected media in the preseason.

The 2008 A-10 Championship commences on Wednesday, Mar. 12, as eighth-seeded Dayton (20-9/8-8) faces No. 9 Saint Louis (16-14/7-9) at 12:00pm, while fifth-seeded Saint Joseph's (18-11/9-7) meets No. 12 Fordham (12-16/6-10) at 2;30pm. The 6:30pm matchup on Wednesday consists of No. 7 La Salle (14-16/8-8) versus tenth-seeded Duquesne (17-12/7-9), while sixth-seeded Charlotte (18-12/9-7) squares off against No. 11 Rhode Island (21-10/7-9) at 9:00pm.

Live video streaming for the first three days of the tourney will be available on www.atlantic10.org for $9.95 per game. Current annual subscribers to CSTV XXL will be able to access all ten games as part of their subscription. However, monthly subscribers will have to purchase the contests via pay-per-view.
