This is the first victory for Duquesne against in-city foe Pittsburgh since Oct. 23, 2001, and just the 11th win ever over a Big East school.

DU was led by freshman Tricia Mullen who had a double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs. Classmate Liz Homan, the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, had six blocks. Sophomore Amy Palko added 18 digs while junior Chelsea Tillotson setup 35 points for the 7-1 A-10 team.

Freshman Brittany Poling's kill put the Dukes up 3-2 on the way to a 20-9 edge in the first set, won by DU, 25-17.

Duquesne trailed in the second game until Jessica Artman's winner gave DU an 11-10 lead. Down 24-21, Pittsburgh warded off three set points via Jessica Moses's kill, Kelly Campbell's service ace and a block of Mullen's game-winning attempt by Moses and Stephanie Ross. Mullen answered that disappointment with a pair of kills for the 26-24 win.

Pittsburgh controlled the third game, winning 25-10, to narrow the competition deficit to 2-1.

Duquesne won game four's first three points and then led, 8-5. Campbell's back-to-back winners tied the set at 8-8 and 9-9. Kills by senior Amanda Humphrey and Artman put DU up 11-9. Ten plays later, Poling's winner meant a 19-11 DU edge. Pitt cut it to 20-17 but could get no closer. Duquesne won the final game, 25-19.

The Panthers got game highs of 17 kills from Meagan Dooley, 10 blocks from Moses, 22 digs from Michele Rossi and 45 assists from Allyson Hodnik.
