Top Target on the Bluff this Weekend

James Still, a 6-foot-9, 210 pound center/power forward from Detroit Community High School, is visiting Duquesne this weekend, according to a report in MLive.com.

Duquesne has but one scheduled scholarship (Aaron Jackson) for the class of 2009 and their top target is Detroit's James Still.

Still is taking an official visit at the Pittsburgh school this weekend when the Dukes open their NEC football schedule against Saint Francis (PA) at 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

MLive.com's (M = Michigan) Stephen Bull wrote:

The Dukes' Motor City recruiting chops come courtesy of Steve Hall, the former coach at Detroit Northwestern and Rogers Academy. Two former Northwestern players, Eric Evans and Shawntez Patterson, are Duquesne freshmen.

From last weekend's DuquesneSports.net story:

  • Scout.com's no. 34 center in class of 2009
  • Averaged 16.6 points, 14 rebounds and 2.2 blocks as a junior
  • Makes mid-range jump shots
  • Runs the floor (comment also made after game in which he played poorly).
  • Would have scored more points in state playoffs if his teammates had been looking for him in transition
  • Looks a good three inches taller than what he was last year (April 2008 Boo Williams Invitational)
  • Has been working in the weight room
  • Made official visit to Providence this month, along with another Michigan native, guard Duke Mondy. Mondy committed to PC.
