Dukes Shut Out Rhode Island, 1-0

Junior Kimberly Roncase's first goal of the season powered Duquesne's women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout of Rhode Island Sunday afternoon on Rooney Field. The win evened Duquesne's record to 3-3-1, and 1-1 in Atlantic 10 Conference action.

Gabby Morrin and Brittany Findley combined for the four-save blanking of the Rams (4-6-1, 0-2 A-10).

Kimberly Roncase headed Laura Tlumack's pass for the game-winning score at 56:48 of the second half.

Each team had eight shots with Duquesne's Brooke Nettuno and Rhode Island's Lischke Ruhe leading their teams with two shots apiece. The Rams did have a 4-3 edge on shots on goal. Jackie Fede recorded two saves.

Duquesne hits the road next weekend for a Friday, October 3, 2008, evening game at La Salle (5-4-1, 1-1 A-10) in Philadelphia at 7:00 p.m., and a Sunday (10/5/08) afternoon game with Fordham (5-3-1, 2-0 A-10) at 1:00 p.m. in the Bronx, N.Y.
