DU Men's Soccer Loses 1-0 Battle at Buffalo

Duquesne's men soccer team's first half attack was stopped by Buffalo goalie Robert Shuttleworth as the Bulls went on to get a 1-0 victory, and their sixth straight victory, over the Dukes Sunday afternoon at the Demske Athletic Complex.

Lee Catchpole set up Martin John five yards in from the net for the game's only goal.

Duquesne peppered the Buffalo defense with all three of their shots on goal but were forestalled by Shuttleworth, whose .854 save percentage is second in the Mid-American Conference/

The teams each had six shots and three shots on goal. The difference, Chris Torres stopped two of those attempts.

Duquesne is 4-2-3 while Buffalo raised its overall record to 9-2-1 and its winning streak to six games.

The Dukes will return to Buffalo, N.Y. for their final non-conference matchup against Canisius (2-6-1) on Friday, October 3, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. The Griffs lost to Robert Morris today, 3-0; DU beat the Colonials by a 1-0 score Friday, in overtime.
