PITTSBURGH – Duquesne true freshman linebacker Chidozie Oparanozie (Pittsburgh, Pa./The Linsly (W.Va.) School) has been named Northeast Conference Football Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week for his performance in Duquesne's 24-16 non-conference win over Dayton on Saturday.
, a 6-0, 235-pound Pittsburgh native (North Side), had nine solo tackles and recovered a fumble as Duquesne
stopped the nation's longest FCS win streak at 10 with the win.
Oparanozie ranks tied for second on the Dukes with 18 tackles in three games. His 15 solo stops are second only to Nathan Totino's team-high 21.
On Sept. 22, Oparanozie was named NEC Rookie of the Week after his two interceptions set up touchdowns in Duquesne's 21-7 win over Saint Francis, Pa.
Duquesne (2-1, 1-0), concludes a three-game homestand when defending Northeast Conference champion Albany (1-3, 0-0) visits Rooney Field at 1:00 on Saturday, Oct. 4.
