Totino Named NEC Defensive Player of the Week

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne sophomore linebacker Nathan Totino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-La Salle) was named Northeast Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for his 23 tackle performance in Duquesne's 33-23 loss to Albany on Saturday.

Nathan Totino's tackle total - in addition to being the highest by a Duquesne player since the team moved to the FCS level in 1993 - is the most tackles recorded by an NEC player since Monmouth's Aaron Edwards had 23 tackles against Albany in 2001.

Totino, who now leads the nation in tackles per game at 15.0, also forced a fumble and recovered an onside kick against the Great Danes. Nine of his stops held Albany ballcarriers to a gain of three or fewer yards.

Duquesne (2-2, 1-1) travels to Moon Township, Pa. to face cross-town rival Robert Morris (1-4, 0-2) next Saturday at Noon. The game, which will be televised as part of the Northeast Conference package, will air locally on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh.
