With the score tied at 39-39 in the second half, a Alex Gensler steal led to a fast break where she found Jaclyn Babe for a layup and a foul. Babe converted the 3-point play that was the beginning of a 10-0 run. A Keri Pryor layup followed by a Gensler jumper and an Eve Pyle 3-pointer gave the Dukes a 49-39 lead with 10:28 remaining in the half.
A 3-pointer by Gensler with 4:38 remaining gave DU their largest lead of the game, 14 points, at 62-48. The Mountaineers would only get as close as seven points on a Lauren Howell 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Pryor, who finished 8-for-10 shooting, led the way in the first half, scoring 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers and Gensler scored all 14 of her points in the second half hitting on 6-of-9 with a pair of 3-pointers.
The Dukes shot .500 (24-28) for the second straight game while holding Mount St. Mary's to .365 shooting (23-63). The Mount outrebounded the Dukes 44-29.
Duquesne returns home to the Palumbo Center on Saturday afternoon as they host Penn. Tipoff will be at 2:00 p.m.
