Pitt Sinks Duquesne, 78-51

Pittsburgh, wearing their all-gold uniforms for the first time this century, showed why they are the number three team in the nation as they took a 78-51 victory over Duquesne in The City Game Wednesday night at the Petersen Events Center in Oakland.

Sophomore Damian Saunders, the Atlantic 10 Conference's men's basketball co-player of the week, again led Duquesne with 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and four blocked shots.

Saunders was the only Duke to reach double figures. Unfortunately he also led the team with seven of those turnovers.

Senior Aaron Jackson had five assists and four steals but just six points. Freshman Melquan Bolding, a preseason A-10 All-Rookie pick, had seven points and tied Damian with six rebounds in his first collegiate start.

Pittsburgh, which is now 8-0, was paced by senior Sam Young's 23 points. Sophomore and Pittsburgh native DeJuan Blair pulled down 17 rebounds to go along with 14 points and five steals.

Duquesne (-4-2), which will host West Virginia on Saturday, Dec. 13th, completes its four-game stretch of road games at Radford next Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in Virginia.
