GW Down 1 Men's Basketball Slot due to APR

This afternoon, the Atlantic 10 Conference issued the conference's academic report based on the latest data released by the NCAA earlier today. Two A-10 schools suffer immediate penalties, i.e., effective with the 2009-2010 season, one in men's basketball.

George Washington University's men's basketball team is losing one scholarship for the upcoming season. Their Academic Progress Rate (APR) in men's basketball is 917, below the mark of 925 necessary to avoid NCAA penalties. The data, which is self-reported, encompasses the 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, and 2007-08 academic years.

Temple also received a penalty in men's indoor track and field because of an APR of 906. TU is limited to 12.25 total athletic scholarships in the sport for the winter 2009-10 season. a reduction of 0.35.

Robert Morris is OK in men's basketball but has a problem in three other sports: football, women's basketball and men's lacrosse. The penalty and APR for each:
