Dukes Drop 3rd Straight at UIC Invitational

Duquesne had the lead in the second and third games but dropped their third straight volleyball game to Georgia State, 3-0. in the finale at the the University of Illinois, Chicago Invitational in Chicago, Ill.

Duquesne (7-4) lost the first set, 25-19. In set two, DU was up 20-15 but lost 25-22. In the third, again the Dukes had the lead in the latter portion of the game, 19-15 this time, but again lost by an identical three points.

Sara Scheirman and Jessica Artman each had nine kills, Amy Palko had 10 digs and Chelsea Tillotson had 33 assists.

Georgia State (7-3) was led by Vineece Verdun's 11 kills and Audrey Cantrell's 21 digs. Two players recorded double-digit assists.

Sophomore Liz Homan, who finished the event with 24 kills while hitting .360, was named to all-tournament team for the third week in a row.

Duquesne will head to Morgantown, W.V. for their fourth and final in-season tournament, the West Virginia Invitational, next weekend before starting Atlantic 10 Conference play the following Friday.

The Dukes will face Wright State and host West Virginia on Saturday, September 19th. Their finale will be against Princeton on Sunday.
