McCoy & Milhouse Are NEC Players of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Duquesne freshman running back Larry McCoy (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe) was named Northeast Conference Football co-Offensive Player and co-Rookie of the Week for his 195-yard rushing performance in Duquesne's 14-7 loss at Nicholls State on Saturday.

Larry McCoy's award marks the second consecutive week a DU player has shared NEC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

In addition, junior linebacker Willie Milhouse (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone), who picked off a pair of passes and forced a fumble at Nicholls, was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

McCoy, whose 195 yards were the most by a Duquesne running back since Mike Hilliard ran for a school record 323 yards against La Salle in 2003, ran for 128 yards in the second half alone. His 34 carries were the most since Hilliard had 36 against Robert Morris in ‘03.

McCoy shares both the Offensive and Rookie honors with Saint Francis, Pa. freshman quarterback John Kelly.

Willie Milhouse, a second-year starter who picked off a total of two passes in 16 games entering this season, has three interceptions in Duquesne's first two games. He added three tackles - including one for a loss - as the Dukes held Nicholls to 218 total yards and one second-half first down.

Duquesne (1-1) continues a stretch of three consecutive road games at Monmouth (0-2) on Saturday at 12:00. The Monmouth game, in addition to being the conference opener for both schools, will be televised as part of the NEC-TV package and will air live on MSG-Plus and Fox College Sports and tape delay on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 3:30 p.m.
