2009 O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic Field

PITTSBURGH - The 12-team field, schedule and television coverage for the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic men's college basketball tournament was announced by the Gazelle Group on Friday afternoon.

Texas, Pittsburgh, Wichita State and Iowa will serve as the four Regional hosts on Nov. 15-19, with the four host schools guaranteed a spot in the Championship Round in Kansas City on Nov. 23-24.

Duquesne will open at Iowa on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 9:00 p.m. (EST) on ESPNU. The game is part of ESPN's second annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon - consecutive live college basketball games to celebrate the start of the season - highlighted by 12 live games in 24 consecutive hours on ESPN. ESPN games are scheduled to tip off every two hours beginning at Midnight (EST) the evening of Nov. 16.

The Dukes will then travel to the Cullowhee, N.C. Subregional and will face 2009 NCAA tournament participant Binghamton at 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 23, followed by a game against Division II Arkansas-Monticello on Nov. 24 also at 5:00 p.m. Duquesne will conclude the Classic with a game against host Western Carolina at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 25.

Fairleigh Dickinson, UTSA, UC Irvine and host Eastern Kentucky will participate in the Richmond, Ky. Subregional which will also be played from Nov. 23-25.

A total of ten O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.


    IOWA (15-17/124 RPI in 2008-09) - Returns seven letterwinners including two of its top four scorers ... leads the all-time series 2-1 ... this will be the first meeting since Dec. 10, 1971 and fourth meeting overall ... Duquesne is 0-9 all-time in Big 10 arenas (0-2 at Iowa) and 3-14 vs. the Big 10 overall ... DU's last win over a Big 10 team came on Dec. 28, 1973 over Illinois (85-83) in the consolation game of the Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden.

    BINGHAMTON (23-9/88 RPI in 2008-09) - First meeting ... posted 23 wins on the way to earning the school's first conference championship (America East) and NCAA tournament bid ... return America East leading scorer 6-2 guard D.J. Rivera (20.0 ppg.) who filed for early entry to the 2009 NBA Draft before deciding to return for his senior season ... Rivera is a transfer from Saint Joseph's ... Binghamton was the nation's 18th-most improved team in 2008-09.

    ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO (20-9 in 2008-09) - First meeting ... Division II school was a late addition to the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic ... coached by Mike Newell who led UALR to the NCAA tournament in 1986, 1989 & 1990 ... went 20-9 last season.

    WESTERN CAROLINA (16-15/189 RPI in 2008-09)- First meeting ... returns 2009 SoCon Freshman of the Year 6-4 guard Harouna Mutombo ... went 11-2 at home last season and has won 13 of its past 15 games at the Ramsey Center ... lose just one player from last year's team which posted the school's first winning record since 1996.
