Late Goal Lifts UMass Past Dukes, 1-0

PITTSBURGH - Massachusetts' Syndey Stoll scored on a breakaway in the 87th minute to end a scoreless tie and give the Minutewomen a 1-0 victory over Duquesne at Rooney Field.

The Dukes fall to 3-6-0, 0-2-0 on the season heading into next weekend's match at St. Bonaventure.

DU had several scoring chances while registering 17 shots in the match. Morgan Herbert and Kristin Vinicky led Duquesne with three apiece.

Herbert almost got the Dukes on the board in the 8th minute, but her header was squeezed between the post by UMass keeper Emily Cota.

DU had another opportunity in the 75th minute, but Vinicky's shot was a few inches high off the mark.

Although DU had possession for most of the second half and took 11 shots, it was the Minutewomen's Jenna Goodwin setting up Stoll for the score with 3:17 to play for the gamewinner.
