Larry McCoy Named NEC Rookie of the Week

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne freshman running back Larry McCoy (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe) was named Northeast Conference Football Rookie of the Week for the second time this season following his 107-yard, two-touchdown performance in Saturday's 34-20 win over Robert Morris.

Larry McCoy 's second touchdown, a 13-yard run with 6:21 left, came after Robert Morris had cut Duquesne's lead to seven with 20 unanswered points.

McCoy, who scored the Dukes' third touchdown on an 11-yard run with under a minute to go in the first half, ranks tied for 17th nationally with an average of 97.8 yards per game. His rushing average is the best among the nation's FCS freshmen.

The Virginia native has topped the 100-yard mark three times, with all three coming in the Dukes' past four games.

Duquesne (2-3, 1-1), which ended a three-game losing streak with the win over RMU, plays at two-time defending NEC champion Albany (3-2, 2-0) Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
