Which coach contacted you with your offer? What kind of feel did they give you about the program?
"It was (Offensive Line) Coach Brandon Jones, he called and asked me to come out there for a tour and invited me to junior day a month ago," Hill said. "I liked the way he presented himself and the coaching staff; they really made me feel at home."
What did you know about ECU before you received your offer?
"I hadn't heard anything about them actually," Hill said. "I had no idea they were recruiting me until I got the call with my offer, it came as a big surprise."
Since receiving your offer, what have you heard about ECU?
"My best friend's dad played basketball there," Hill said. "He told me a lot about the school, saying it was a really nice play to be and that they had a great football program with nice facilities."
Have you had a chance to visit campus yet?
"Not yet, I'm trying to get up there sometime soon before spring games, not really sure exactly when though."
How did your season go at West Stanly?
"We didn't do too well; I dislocated my knee cap and only got to play in the last three games of the season," Hill said. "In those games I felt as though I played really well and can build off of it next season."
Where do you excel as a player? What do you need to work on?
"My strength is that I have a nose for the ball, I am trying to really work on my speed so that I can fly around out there and get even more stops."
What will you be doing this off-season to improve on that?
"I'm going to a Nike and an Under Armour combine," Hill said. "As far as camps, I am planning on going to multiple but I'm not sure which ones yet."
On a scale of 1-10 what is your interest in ECU?
"I wouldn't put a number on it but it's pretty up there. My options are still open because it's so early in the process and I want to make sure I make the right decision."
Signing day is far away, but when do you see yourself making a decision?
"I'm really not sure about that one," Hill said. "I am trying to possibly enroll early at whichever school I select; this year is flying by and I know next year will too so I am trying to take it all in and make the right choice."
B.J. Hill is an explosive defensive end with good size. Hill plays both defensive end and linebacker for his high school team but ECU will use him exclusively at the defensive end position if he signs a letter of intent. His knee injury was a setback last season, but after talking to him I get the impression he is working hard to make sure it doesn't affect him moving forward. Hill is a prospect to watch next season and would be a nice addition to the new-look Pirate defense under coordinator Rick Smith. B.J. has agreed to contact me after his visit for a follow-up interview.
