Interview transcript

Take me through your visit. What was it like?

"I got to watch spring practice after I toured campus," Hill said. The tour went great, I really liked the school. The best part was definitely the football stadium."

Was this your first official visit?

"This was my second time visiting ECU, I went on junior day, but this was the first time I took a tour of campus."

What have you been up to since we last spoke? Any camps or combines?

"I went to Rivals Camp, the Nike Football Training Camp in Charlotte and the Shrine Bowl. I thought I did really well; there was a good level of competition at each camp. The Shrine Bowl was awesome because it had all of the North Carolina talent out there."

Have you been staying in shape? Anything in particular you've been working on?

"I have been working on my speed," Hill said. "Track has helped me out the most; I've been running the 100 a lot and the 4x1. I've definitely been staying in good shape."

What did this visit do for your interest in ECU?

"I really like ECU it was all positive vibes when I was there. I liked Coach Ruff a lot, he is very energetic and all over the place. He can be really funny sometimes too; I had fun while I was there."

Update me on your offers. What schools have been talking to you?

"ECU is my only offer right now," Hill said. I believe it's due to the injury I suffered last season, I have something to prove to the schools that haven't offered me yet. I've heard from NC State, UNC Chapel Hill and Virginia Tech. They all want me to come to their camps; I'm excited to show them what I got."

Where do you plan on going next?

"I plan on going to those camps at all of those schools this summer. Hopefully they will send offers my way soon as well."

Last time we spoke you said you were going to enroll early. When do you think you'll commit to a school?

"I'll probably wait until the middle of the season or the right after it ends to commit," Hill said. "I still want to leave school early and enroll so I can get adapted to college and get settled in with my team."

Last week was the 2013 NFL Draft, I'm sure you watched. What was your favorite pick?

"My favorite pick was the Honey Badger Tyrann Mathieu (former LSU defensive-back) going to the Arizona Cardinals to play with his college teammate Patrick Peterson. It looks like he's got his act together and Patrick will keep him in line, I think they're going to do big things."

Final thoughts

B.J. Hill could begin to pick up more offers after attending camps this summer. After his knee injury last season, Hill seems poised to prove he is recovered and can still play at a high level. At 6-foot-4 245 pounds, he would be a sizeable addition to the ECU defensive front if signing a letter of intent. If B.J. shows out in camps over summer, he could begin to pick up even more interest. Right now the Pirates are still the only school to offer this prospect.
