2015 Eastern Guilford wide-receiver/safety Jarius Morehead's first offer came from the Pirates early in the spring.
"I can't remember what coach it was," Morehead said. "It was during spring break. He saw my highlight tape and said he liked what he saw, that's when he made ECU my first offer. It felt great, I didn't think I would get an offer from such a big program as a sophomore."
Morehead's impression of ECU is still young and he doesn't know a great deal about the school or the program.
"I didn't know much about them (ECU), aside from Chris Johnson and when my brother went to visit there he told me about it," Morehead said.
For his visit, Morehead is waiting to hear from the coaches about when he should make it out to the Pirate Nation. It could be June of July.
Having multiple offers as a sophomore is something Morehead takes pride in.
"It feels great that I have these offers and I still have time to work and get better," he said. "If I stopped now I would have a place to go, but I can't relax. I have to stay working hard every day to get where I want to be."
Morehead's interests currently lie in two North Carolina schools.
"N.C. State and UNC (Chapel Hill) are my favorites right now," he said. "Carolina talks with me the most, about once a week, I also talked to the (N.C.) State coach last week. There could be offers coming in from them soon."
As a two-way player last season, Morehead saw time at wide-receiver and safety. He said he's more of an offensive minded player.
"I like receiver better because I like making plays that could change the game for my team," Morehead said. "Carolina (UNC Chapel Hill) wants me at safety because they struggle at that position. I'd be willing to play either at the next level, whatever helps my team."
This summer Morehead wants to travel around North Carolina.
"I plan on going to Carolina and (N.C.) State this week," he said. "Next I'll be heading to ECU soon to watch some of my friends at their camp and visit."
ECU is at the top of his list as well, he likes how well the coaching staff stays in contact and that they want him to play offense.
"I rank them (ECU) second right now," Morehead said. "They carry out more communication than Carolina and want me at receiver which is a big deal for me."
As far as making his final decision, Morehead plans on waiting until the last minute. However, he knows it could change with time.
"I am going to wait until signing day," he said. "I'm pretty sure visits could change that, but for right now signing day is what I'm planning on."
Morehead's offers include Tennessee, UNC Charlotte and now ECU.
