Opening statement: I was proud of our team and our leadership. I've asked them to focus on one day at a time and our seniors did that. Tonight was a special night, having chewed the same dirt I know the feeling very well. I was blessed and fortunate to win my last game in Dowdy-Ficklen… I know it was special for our guys. Every rep we took tonight was a ‘senior rep' which means we went as hard as we could for the seniors. These guys have been with me and my staff from the beginning and it is a great group, it was emotional when each guy ran out.
On the 329 yards rushing: I thought people were unfair to criticize the way (offensive line coach) Brandon Jones does things at first. Now we have kids that are under his tutorage and understand what we want. He's done a great job of keeping those guys playing as a nickel after losing a starter in Adhem Elsawi. Tre Robertson stepped in and hasn't missed a beat.
On senior Reese Wiggins' three touchdowns: I'm proud of Reese, he made some catches and did great on blocking as well. I have not known Reese to ever be late for anything, which is what you want. You want players that make the team great; I do, more than great players. Reese deserves it and has earned it; he never pouted about reps and handled it well. He had a big night tonight.
Junior quarterback Shane Carden
On his two first-half interceptions: That was me trying to make too much happen. On Senior night we talked about playing within ourselves and I think I just got out there and tried to do a little too much in the first half. It's something I can do, and is something I'm disappointed about. It's a great win for the team, but I thought I could play a much better game tonight. I'll watch film and work on it.
On sending the seniors out with a bang: It's awesome to have seniors step up on Senior night and make big plays. Reese Wiggins, Kyle Tudor, Derrell Johnson and Tay's running helped us get a great team win. It's a great way to end it in Dowdy-Ficklen for them, but we have a lot of ball to play left in the season.
Senior linebacker Kyle Tudor
On his 50-yard interception return for a touchdown: I can't ask for anything more. That's one thing I've always said I wish I could get and I guess my team was just as happy as I was as you could tell. I kind of got bombarded when I got to the sideline. I always said I'd have a sweet celebration, but I was too tired to do anything.
Senior wide receiver Reese Wiggins
On having such a big Senior night with three touchdowns: It there was a picture perfect way to do it this would have been it in my eyes. All of the seniors came out with the same mindset that it was just another game. We played hard and didn't try to do too much because that's when it gets bad. We wanted to do our jobs and luckily we came out with a big night.
Senior running back Vintavious Cooper
On getting the win: We couldn't have asked for a better way to go out. Everybody played great today from the offensive line to the defensive line. It says a lot about the character of our seniors being as good of players as they are and as unselfish as they are. We could have gotten complacent, but we know what we're trying to accomplish.
Senior linebacker Derrell Johnson
On his brothers in the senior class: We've worked so hard and been here since day one when coach Ruff first got here. To get to this point where we're at right now is big and we want to keep it going. For the seniors to come out and get this big win is definitely a special feeling.
Junior running back Breon Allen
On the huge night by the tandem of him and Vintavious Cooper: Me and Tay complement each other in a lot of ways. When the offensive line gets going like that, me and him can do some special things up front to go along with the explosive passing game. With the passing game, we're two-dimensional so it's hard to stop us.
