Gallaspy Cools on ECU

2015 Southern Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.) running back Reggie Gallaspy is one of ECU's top targets for the class. Inside ECU Sports spoke with him about the Pirates.

ECU's coaching staff is hitting the ground running with the 2015 class.

Running back Reggie Gallaspy has been on the Pirates' radar for quite some time and he received an offer from ECU in April 2013.

When August rolled around, Gallaspy made his first unofficial visit to campus, which he quickly followed with another unofficial during ECU's game against Virginia Tech on Sep. 14, 2013.

The tough 15-10 loss the Pirates endured that game may have been what cooled Gallaspy's interest in ECU. He has since picked up multiple offers from ACC programs and it's likely he end ups in the conference when it's all said and done with.

"My top five in order is Duke, N.C. State, UNC Chapel Hill, West Virginia, and Virginia," said the 5-foot-11, 205-pound Gallaspy.

After another impressive season for Southern Guilford, more college programs are taking notice of him.

"There are a lot of schools showing interest," said Gallaspy. "I've been in contact with Auburn, Florida State, Cal, Stanford, Wake Forest, Illinois, UCLA, Penn State, Florida and Clemson."

With schools like the ones named above showing interest, the Pirates have a huge feat in front of them in order to land Gallaspy. He mentioned he thinks a lot more schools could be offering soon which will make it even more difficult.

The visit during the Virginia Tech game was the last time he was at ECU.

As far as Gallaspy's plans for the offseason, he will be working a lot on stamina and footwork. For visits, he is still putting together a list of schools to make it to and whether ECU will make that list is still up in the air.
