Davis Plans ECU Visit

2015 Broad Run (Ashburn, Va.) defensive back Chuck Davis has an ECU offer and plans to visit for Junior Day in the next couple of weeks. Inside ECU Sports spoke with him about the Pirates.

Chuck Davis picked up his first Division I offer a year ago. Since then he has seen a wave of interest from more college coaches.

"Recruiting has been picking up a lot lately," said the 5-foot-9, 160-pound Davis. "I picked up (offers from) Indiana, ECU and UNC Charlotte in a span of three days."

UNC Chapel Hill was the first school to offer Davis a year ago, he also visited ACC member Boston College over the summer of 2013 for a camp.

Davis is currently hearing from Indiana the most, he mentioned he talks to their coaches almost daily.

As far as his connection with ECU, Davis has been contacted by the Pirates multiple times.

"I talked to (defensive line) coach Marc Yellock twice he's a really cool dude," said Davis. "They said they loved my film and it was a no brainer when they offered me. I really like that they believe in my abilities."

In order to expand his knowledge of the Pirates, Davis will be visiting campus for Junior Day on April 12, the same day he will watch ECU play its spring game. He's excited for the experience and think's it will be fun.

There is no top school for Davis at the moment – he mentioned his recruitment is still 100 percent open.

Schools have told Davis that he has a bright future in football. His pursuit to the ball on defense is something to marvel over.

"I'm an aggressive hitter, I like to hit," said Davis. "That's the best part about my game and that's what everyone loves about it."

While he knows what he is good at, Davis also knows his game could use fine tuning before he gets to the next level.

"One thing I want to work on is my speed I want to get even faster," said Davis. "Right now I'm in the 4.4 (second) range in the 40-yard dash, I want to get that down as much as I can. I'm going to a couple camps this summer. I will try to get to Florida, Ohio State and a few other colleges."

The next camp he will attend will be the Nike Football Training Camp at the end of April.
