Gibsonville (NC) Eastern Guilford impressed last week at the year's first Shrine Bowl combine. Measured at 6=0, 185 pounds, Morehead ran a solid 4.56-second 40-yard dash and was one of the top performers in coverage drills.
He has put together a nice list of scholarship offers and Morehead
told Pack Pride that all of the early attention caught him off guard
to some degree.
"Right now I've got nine offers," said Morehead. "I've got NC State, UNC, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Clemson, Tennessee,
UNC-Charlotte and East Carolina. I didn't know I was going to get
this much interest so early but my coaches told me I was going to
start progressing and get better so it's been good."
Morehead has made just a couple of visits so far this year. He's
been to State and Carolina. Of those two, NC State has been the
school Morehead has consistently listed as one of his favorites.
"Coach White and the coaching staff have really stood out with
State. They're a big family and we're all together and it's really
nice to be a player for the guy that will be your coach and your
recruiter. So that's good.
"Coach Doeren, he's been getting a lot of good recruits in so the
whole program is really going to turn around."
So who does Morehead have out front currently and who does he feel
is recruiting him the hardest?
"My top schools are State, Wake Forest and East Carolina. I'm
planning to go to one of State's practices. I would say NC State is
recruiting me the hardest because they hit me up all the time. They
keep me updated and show me a lot of love."
Morehead recently tweeted that he may make his college decision in
the near future but seems to have back tracked on that to some
"Right now I'm still thinking I might wait and make my decision at
the beginning of the new year."
