April Recruiting Update

ECU used the Purple-Gold Spring game to full potential and hosted multiple recruits. Inside ECU Sports has a look at some of the top 2015 targets that were on campus along with the verbal commits the Pirates picked up.

Ruffin McNeill and company are starting to pick up momentum on recruiting for the 2015 class and used the 2014 Purple-Gold Spring Game to nab two verbal commits.

As summer approaches the heat will continue to turn up on the class. Here's a list of some of the top 2015 targets that made it out for a spring game visit along with the two commits the Pirates picked up.

2015 Kettle Run (Nokesville, Va.) defensive end Abu Kai Kai: The spring game visit was enough to make Abu Kai Kai pledge to the Pirates. He's a talented defensive end, but could be used a linebacker due to his lack of height. UNC Chapel Hill, Oregon State, Old Dominion and Virginia have all been in contact with Kai Kai. While he's committed now, that could change with time.

2016 Washington, D.C. (Wilson W. Shs) running back Abdul Adams: It was love at first visit for Abdul Adams, the talented running back pledged to the Pirates on during his spring game visit. Defensive Line Coach Marc Yellock is credited with Adams' recruitment, but it is still early on. After all, this was the first school to offer and the first school to host him for a visit. If he stays committed the Pirates have locked in an impressive back with tremendous upside.

2015 Millbrook (Raleigh, N.C.) defensive end Kengera Daniel: Alabama, Miami, ECU and Wake Forest have all offered Daniel, and for good reason. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound defensive end is a force on the line and has coaches salivating after a strong junior season. ECU defensive line coach Marc Yellock is on Daniel's trail, if the two build a relationship, there's potential

2015 George Washington (Danville, Va.) safety/wide receiver Tim Glass: One of many players from George Washington that visited for the spring game, Glass picked up an offer while he was on campus. ECU joins the mix with Cincinnati and N.C. State. Georgia, Duke and Virginia Tech have all hosted him for a visit. More offers could be coming soon.

2013 Mesa C. C. (Az) offensive tackle Brandon Pertile: Another name to watch for this summer. While Pertile didn't visit for the spring game, he picked up his offer from offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley the week before. Riley will be in Arizona in early May to visit with Pertile. While he's there, he will likely visit with ECU's only 2014 quarterback commit Blake Kemp before he reports for summer camp.

2014 Trinity Christian (Fayetteville, N.C.) quarterback Braxton Ross: I've said it once and I'll say it again, Braxton Ross is a name to pay attention to in the next year. He's an extraordinary athlete for the quarterback position at 6-foot-3, 204 pounds and turned heads with his ability in his senior season. He will enroll at Fort Scott C.C. in Kansas for one semester. Interestingly enough, Fort Scott is the same JUCO ECU alum and now professional quarterback, Dominique Davis attended. Ross hears from ECU regularly and will have other FBS schools paying attention. He attended the Purple-Gold Spring Game.
