"I have offers from schools like Elon all the way to Alabama," said the 6-foot-6, 245-pound Daniel. "I weigh them all equally at the moment, I don't evaluate the schools that much. I will take another look during summer to check them out. I hear from Miami the most, but I'm also hearing from Ohio State and Clemson."
Daniel's current offers are from ECU, Wake Forest, Alabama and Miami. More offers could be on the way soon.
As far as his relationship with ECU, Daniel says it started last season. He heard from wide receivers coach Dave Nichol first and eventually planned a visit. He decided to make it out to campus for the annual Purple-Gold Spring Game.
"We took a tour first thing and ate some good food," said Daniel. "After that we went out to the practice field, went to the gym but the lights were off. I got to see the weight room, the track and I thought (ECU) had really good facilities. It was a huge stadium too."
The interest should continue to rise if he plays like he did last season. He is a force on the end of the defensive line.
"I'm a pass rusher," said Daniel. "I play weak-side defensive end most of the time, but I also play strong side. I like being on the blind side of the quarterback and like the bigger challenge. When I play linebacker I cover flats and running backs. My game is all outside because I have long reach and a quick first step up field."
This summer will be an important one for Daniel's recruitment. He will use the time he has to potentially narrow down his choices and prepare for senior season.
As of right now, Daniel plans to visit some top programs.
"I will check out local schools," said Daniel. "I'm also going to Ohio State, Alabama, maybe Clemson and possibly Georgia. Other than the visits, I want to get coached by college coaches. A few colleges have asked me to come to camp including LSU and Boston College."
