In May Riley went out to Arizona for a visit to see Pertile and 2014 ECU commit Blake Kemp.
"(Riley) showed up right after my work out," said the 6-foot-6, 300-pound Pertile. "He really gave my coaches the impression that the Pirates are fired up about me. He wanted to get me pumped up about it and did a good job. I'm loving it right now."
Despite attending Mesa Community College in Arizona, Pertile is very familiar with ECU and the relationship with him and the Pirates has blossomed into something that may lead to a commitment in the future.
Quarterback Blake Kemp from Mesa committed to the Pirates with the class of 2014 and joined the team for summer workouts in May. His short time at ECU has helped Pertile gain valuable knowledge about the Pirate lifestyle.
"Blake has been in contact with me and our coaches," said Pertile. "He said he is blown away and loves it at ECU. The campus is beautiful, the teammates are friendly guys and he's loving practice. He's happy to be there and it's nice to have a second pair of eyes out there."
While he won't be able to make it out to ECU for a summer visit, Pertile will look to get his eyes on ECU in the fall. A game day visit will be the goal for him and the coaching staff.
Pertile's most recent offers have come from Utah, Utah State and UAB. Those schools join Buffalo and ECU on his offer list for a total of five.
This summer will be a quiet one as far as visits for Pertile. He would like to make it out to a couple of local schools like Arizona State, and may take a trip to Utah. Aside from that this summer will be about hitting the gym five days a week hard for next season.
