Although New Jersey hasn't traditionally been a hot bed for ECU football recruiting, Hoboken offensive lineman Daniel Clifford has the full attention of the Pirate coaching staff.
"(Offensive line) Coach Brandon Jones offered after my dad sent my highlight tape there," said the 6-foot-4, 290-pound Clifford. "ECU has been contacting my coach. I'm going down for a camp on June 18 to work out for Coach Jones."
While Clifford mentioned this will be his first visit to ECU, he isn't a stranger to North Carolina. He has multiple family members spread out across the state in cities like Raleigh and Charlotte.
Clifford is seeing his hard work pay off in the form of offers and there's no reason to believe they will stop any time soon. His offer list consists of Buffalo, Connecticut, ECU and Iowa State. Three more schools could join the mix soon.
"UMass said they will offer by next week," said Clifford. "I went to Miami camp last week, they are heavy on recruiting me now. Temple is in the process of putting a scholarship together for me and could offer soon."
The summer won't be completely booked with school visits for Clifford. He visited Temple and Rutgers this spring, but mentioned he would like to use his official visits in the fall to help narrow down his decision.
As of right now, Clifford believes he will commit to a school either in the middle of his senior season or right at the end.
Like other schools recruiting him, ECU has expressed interest in Clifford playing guard at the next level. Clifford will be in the gym for a good portion of summer building for his senior season. His goal is to add strength and staying around 295 pounds.
