Williams and Lennon Ineligble for Bowl Game
A pair of starting East Carolina defenders, senior nose tackle Terry Williams and junior free safety Domonique Lennon, have been declared ineligible for the 2015 Birmingham Bowl according to an announcement from ECU head coach Ruffin McNeill Sunday. Williams will complete his career, which included a redshirt season in 2010, with 126 overall tackles, 17.0 TFLs and 3.0 sacks in 37 games. He started eight of 10 contests in 2014 after returning from a knee injury and was credited with 34 stops and 7.5 TFLs to earn First Team All-American Athletic Conference honors. Lennon, who started all 12 games this season, led the Pirate secondary with 65 tackles and added two pass breakups. He tallied multiple stops in 13 of 23 career outings with a personal-best 10 hits at Cincinnati on Nov. 13. "While we are disappointed for Terry and Domonique, we expect everyone to succeed with the support system we have in place for our program," McNeill said. "We talk about being responsible on and off the field as one of our core values, and when certain expectations are not met, no individual is above being held accountable." East Carolina (8-4) will face Southeastern Conference member Florida (6-5) at Legion Field Saturday, Jan. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 noon (ET).
