JUCO CB Puts ECU In Top Three

Northwest Mississippi C.C. (Senatobia, MS) cornerback Treston Decoud stopped by East Carolina for an official visit this weekend. Inside ECU Sports spoke with him about the experience, which landed the Pirates in his top three.

p>Just under 48 hours left until Signing Day 2015 and the last official visit weekend for the 2015 class is in the books. ECU hosted multiple JUCO targets with hopes of adding new commits that can contribute early on.

Hutchinson inside linebacker Darius Wright was the first of the targets to verbally commit to ECU since the weekend ended. One of the other targets for the class, 6-foot-3, 205-pound JUCO cornerback Treston Decoud, stopped by for his first visit to campus and it was a success.

“My visit was a great experience,” said Decoud. “ECU really impressed me and there was a lot of positive vibes. I felt comfortable almost like I was at home. The way the coaches and players connected really stood out. It was like a family.”

Before the weekend started Decoud said he would narrow his list of schools down to a top five Sunday and then a top three on Monday. The visit to ECU helped land the Pirates in his top five with other schools Utah State, Oregon State, Toledo and Louisiana Lafayette.

While he has yet to name all three schools, Decoud mentioned ECU is in fact in his top three list of schools as well.

Defensive coordinator Rick Smith, who specializes in defensive backs, met with Decoud for the first time during his visit. The two went over some of the defensive coverages in their meeting.

Decoud’s combination of size and speed make him a hot commodity for any defense which explains why so many school are interested in him.

All the schools interested will have to wait and see which school he choses on Signing Day.
