Riak Signs With ECU
The East Carolina men's basketball program has signed Victory Rock Prep (Bradenton, Fla.) forward Deng Riak to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Jeff Lebo announced Friday. Riak joins the Pirates’ two fall signees — Northern Durham (Durham, N.C.) guard Kentrell Barkley and Trinity Valley Community College (Texas) transfer Clarence Williams — to complete the team’s three-member 2015 signing class. "Our staff is very excited about the addition of Deng to our team," Lebo said. "We believe that he has the skill set for a guy his size that will help elevate our program in the American Athletic Conference." Riak, a 6-foot-10-inch, 220-pound power forward, is a native of Melbourne, Australia, where he played on the country's 17-and-under national team. He attended prep school at Victory Rock Prep in Bradenton, Fla., averaging 12 points and eight rebounds this past season. Riak also held offers from Florida, Virginia Tech, Florida International, Florida Atlantic and Florida Gulf Coast. The NCAA Division I spring men's basketball signing period continues through May 20.
