Pirates take senior night victory over Elon
Hunter Allen and Reid Love drove in three of East Carolina’s seven runs on Senior Night lifting the Pirates to a 7-0 win over Elon in seven innings at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. The contest was called early due to inclement weather in the area. With the win the Pirates improve to 33-20 on the year, while the Phoenix drop to 24-27. The victory pushed ECU’s home record to 24-12 on the season. David Lucory (3-4) picked up the win tossing five scoreless frames where he allowed one hit, walked two and struck out three. Nick Durazo gave up a hit with one strikeout and Evan Voliva tossed a clean inning with one strikeout out of the bullpen. Casey Jones (0-1) took the loss allowing all seven runs (earned) on five hits with three walks in 3.1 innings. Sean Byrnes scattered a pair of hits over 3.2 frames in relief. Allen led the Pirates seven-hit attack going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Love added two RBI, while Garrett Brooks, Luke Lowery and Charlie Yorgen each drove in a run. Lowery’s RBI came on his 12th home run of the season, which highlighted the Pirates four-run fourth inning. Ryan Cooper and Nick Zammarelli collected the lone base knocks for Elon.
